A basic uncertainty evaluation for length measurement using a instrument such as micrometer or other two point device. The evaluation follows the principles of GUM (Guide to the expression of uncertainty in measurement published by ISO). The GUM document can be downloaded from www.bipm.org/en/publications/guides/gum.html.As input are error sources are from measuring instrument and object to be measured. These are information from calibration certificates, repeatability, temperature, zeroing etc.
The development of this software was part of the project DriveTrain (ENG56). The project was funded through the European Metrology Research Programme (EMRP). The EMRP is jointly funded by the EMRP participating countries within EURAMET and the European Union. The software was developed at MIKES. MIKES is a part of VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd.
